Dame Sarah Elisabeth Mullally, DBE
(born 1962) began her career in nursing in 1984, at St Thomas' Hospital
, having qualified from London South Bank University
.
She then held a number of nursing leadership roles including Director of Nursing
at the Chelsea and Westminster and later Deputy Chief Executive Officer. In 1999 she was appointed as Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Patient Experience for England. She was the youngest person to hold these positions. She has also been a non-executive Director of the English Board of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting.
Mullally became a Deacon
in the Church of England
in 2001 and a Priest in 2002. She became an Independent Governor for the London London South Bank University in August 2005 and a non executive director of The Royal Mardsen NHS Foundation Trust in November 2005.
In 2005, she became a Dames Commander of the Order of the British Empire
in recognition for her contribution to nursing and midwifery
