Harris attended the AIS
between 2002 and 2004 when he received a four year scholarship recipient at Old Dominion University
in Virginia
, USA. Upon graduating he returned home to Tasmania where he played for SEABL
team NW Tasmania Thunder in 2009. He then signed for NBL team the Perth Wildcats
where he played mostly as a back up player for the 2009–10 NBL season
champions, though he did play in six games averaging 1 point, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 blocks per game.
Harris then signed for the Adelaide 36ers
for the 2010–11 NBL season
where he linked with Mark Radford, his development coach at the Wildcats and now assistant at the 36ers. His continued good development, as well as an injury to team mate Mitch Creek
, saw Harris activated from the 36ers training squad to full NBL status. His first 36ers game was at home in Adelaide
against the New Zealand Breakers
on 12 November 2010. He marked his first appearance for the 36ers with a slam dunk
for his first points.
Late in 2010, Harris signed for the Bendigo Braves for the upcoming 2011 season in the SEABL. Harris is on track to get his first SEABL championship with the Braves.
Harris has played 8 NBL games in total averaging 1.1 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.3 blocks per game. For the 36ers he has only played two games averaging 1.5 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0 blocks per game. He has since returned to the 36ers training squad to make way for team mates returning from injury.
