The heights of the Salève (1100 metres) can be reached by cable car
whose lower station is situated 400 metres from the border (from the village of Veyrier
). The upper station overlooks Geneva and Lake Geneva. It is also a popular bicycle hill climb.
The mountain features snow sports facilities, and in the summer, paragliding
is popular.
It can be accessed from the center of Geneva by public bus (No. 8, 34, 41) to Veyrier-Ecole or Veyrier-Douane.
