Fishing
Fishing in lake saluda can be quite good at times. There is a weekly bass tournament hosted by the original public ramp. The lake is also stocked. A neon green rattle trap has been successful as well as the traditional worm. Reeling fast tends to be more fruitful as the lake has a high average temperature of around 80 degrees in the summer. A depth of around 8 ft seems to be where the majority of the bass are caught. There are also huge catfish in there. The only public access' are 2 pay ramps, one is 8 and the other 5. Make sure you have cash and the correct change.

If you have a shallow boat, a ride up the river is beautiful and peaceful. There are great steep faces surrounding the main body of the lake. The depth is tolerable(40 ft at the dam) until you get near the river, be careful, and stay in the channels. The houses on the shore are charming and quite reasonbly priced. If the restoration project really gets going, that may change.

For being 10 minutes from downtown greenville, you really can't beat this seemingly hidden treasure.
