. SERC was formed on April 29, 2005, as the successor to the Southeast Electric Reliability Council (also known as SERC). The original SERC was formed January 14, 1970 by the functional merger of four smaller reliability entities: the CARVA Pool, Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
