1930 - 1966 held over 12 furlongs (approx. 2400m)

1972 - 1990 held over 2400m

1996 onwards held over 1200m.

1930 – 1978 was a Principal Race

1984 onwards Group 3

1930 - 1948 the race was known as the SAJC King's Cup

1954 onwards the race has been called the SAJC Queen's Cup.
