The Institute is affiliated to All India Council of Technical Education,New Delhi & State Council of Technical Education & Vocational Traning
recognized under state government of Orissa.
Though the contribution of Smt.Sushilavati Khosla is endeavored who was wife of Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosla. As she donated about 1lakh rupees to the D.A.V trust, in whose collaboration the D. A. V. trust started the S.K.D.A.V. Polytechnic For Women in Rourkela in year 1967.To impart diploma education exclusively to girl students in the locality and around the state.
In the beginning the institution imparted Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and Library & Information Science.But latter in the year 2001 and 2006 the institute started new branches of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology & Civil Engineering.

S.K.D.A.V Polytechnic came to lime light when the management of Gov. of Orissa took the institution under it's effect in the year of 1st april 1974, but latter on in the year 1990 it was shifted to gov. building.Though the contribution of Smt.Sushilavati Khosla is endeavored who was wife of Dr. Ajudhia Nath Khosla.
