.This board was formed under the Orissa Education Act, 1953. The board control & maintains all the necessary secondary education in the State of Orissa. Under this board various courses are equipped to students for different occupations & prepare the students for education to University's.

The board conducts final examinations every spring for Higher Secondary Examination (HSE), High School Certificate Examinations (H.S.C.E.) and examinations of other courses prescribed by the Board for Class 12.
