The county consists of three disjoint parts, separated by the city of Rybnik. The total area of the county is 224.63 square kilometres (86.7 sq mi). As of 2006 its total population is 73,527, out of which the population of Czerwionka-Leszczyny is 28,486 and the rural population is 45,041.
