In 2007, the Healthcare Commission rated Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust "Good" for 'Quality of Services' and Good for 'Use of Resources'. In 2009, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust was rated "Excellent" for the quality of its services and the quality of its financial management.

Redevelopment

In March 2010, the British Government

 gave the go ahead for a £451 million redevelopment of the hospital, which will make the hospital one of the most advanced in the North West of England (and the first in the country to have a separate room for every patient). The redevelopment will see the hospital having en-suite patient rooms throughout, a new accident and emergency entrance and a new large hospital garden. Subject to planning approval, the project is expected to start in 2012, with a completion date of 2016. Approximately £328m will be spent on constructing the new hospital, with the rest being used to buy new equipment and demolish the old hospital.
