The Roman Catholic Diocese of Daet is a diocese
located in the city of Daet in the Ecclesiastical province
of Caceres in the Philippines.
established the Diocese of Caceres on August 14, 1595 with Friar Luis Maldonado, O.F.M. as its first Bishop. On 1611, the creation of the first three parishes: the Parish of Our Lady of Candelaria in Paracale; the Parish of St. John the Baptist in Daet; and the Parish of St. Peter the Apostle in Vinzons.
On June 29, 1951, the Diocese of Nueva Caceres elevated into an Archdiocese of Caceres and Bishop Pedro Santos became the 1st archbishop. The Diocese of Daet was created on May 27, 1974 and became a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Caceres and Celestino Rojo Enverga became the first bishop. The establishment of the three parishes: the Parish of St. Roch, Batobalani in May 31, 1976; the Parish of San Lorenzo Ruiz in July 2, 1983; and the Parish of St. Nicholas of Tolentino, Colasi in July 23, 1983.
On October 16, 1990, the Diocese of Daet became a vacant see (sede vacante) because of the passing away of Bishop Enverga. Bishop Benjamin Almoneda, then the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Daet, became the Diocesan Administrator and soon afterwards in July 6, 1991, he became the second Bishop of the Diocese of Daet.
On 2003, Pope John Paul II appoints Bishop Nestor Cariño as the Auxiliary Bishop of Daet. On May 27, 2004, the diocese of Daet celebrating the Pearl Jubilee Anniversary of the diocese. On April 4, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appoints Msgr. Gilbert Garcera as the third Bishop of Daet.
