Robert Edward Franklin "REF" (born 1969 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania
) is an American poet and visual artist with a style reminiscent to Jean Dubuffet
. He is best known for his paintings on wood panels, combining an array of collage and graffiti based on his own universe of symbols usually suspended in a thick layer oil or acrylic paints. While he has been creating art in various forms throughout his life it was not until 2001 that he started creating his art on a full-time basis. He is the owner / curator of Aqvangado Gallery.
