A catalyst to the rising popularity of billiards in Indonesia, Ricky Yang, has given the proud island-nation an identity in international pool tournaments where he enjoys the distinction of being one of the Asia's elite cue artists.

Possessing a pleasing personality coupled with world-class 9ball skills, the 2006 POBSI National Champion never fails to capture the hearts of the crowd wherever he competes. In fact, it was because of this perfect marriage of genuine friendliness and natural fluidity to his game that he was chosen to become the role model for the inaugural 2007 Guinness 9Ball Tour. Together with WPA 8Ball and 9Ball Champion Ronato Alcano of the Philippines, Yang is more than happy to represent his country as an ambassador for the prestigious event while at the same time contributing to the growth of the sport in the region.

Although he has yet to capture his first Tour title, the closest being a second place finish behind the "Magician" Efren Reyes at 2006's Jakarta edition, Yang has done remarkably well this year with quarterfinal results in Kaohsiung and Singapore and a semifinal stint at the Genting Highlands leg which allowed him to garner 140 Order of Merit points and a sixth place spot in the Top Ten. As such, he has earned for himself a ticket for the tournament's Grand Finale in Bali where he remains the lone local bet left to carry his Nation's colors.

With the local crowd backing him up in Bali, fans can expect Yang to pull out all the stops and bring out his A-game as he aims to end the 2007 season with a much-deserved dream victory on home
soil.
