. When restored, the Clanricarde estates were heavily in debt and a great deal of litigation was on-going between the interested parties. Richard married Elizabeth Butler, the daughter of the Walter Butler, 11th Earl of Ormond. It was the second marriage for Elizabeth. They had no issue. He was succeeded by his brother, William.
