The school currently is home to the Reseda High School Science Magnet HS and the Reseda Police Academy Magnet HS, in addition to Reseda High's four small learning communities.

Academic programs

Reseda High School has several programs. Among them are an active Humanities Academy, Multilingual Teachers Academy, Academic Decathlon Program, Navy Jr. ROTC, Urban Studies program, Health Occupations Students of America chapter, Science Bowl. Of note is the yearly science fair which is that largest of any high school in the San Fernando Valley

Reseda High School is one of the few schools in the San Fernando Valley to have a robotics team.

Athletics

In 2001 the Reseda High School varsity football was led to a city championship by captain #67 Rene Gutierrez and co-captain #72 Daniel Fis. They defeated Fairfax High in the Championship game 42-13. Captain Rene Gutierrez went on to play at University of Southern California and later went to play in the NFL for the New England Patriots. Co-captain went on to play at Oregon University and is now an assistant coach at Cleveland.

Reseda High School Science Magnet

The Reseda Science Magnet School attempts to provide students with a stronger background in science, math and social responsibility. The program prepares students to be successful at the college level in the fields of medicine, physics, chemistry, engineering, geology and environmental science. As an informal prerequisite, students are expected to have a strong background in mathematics.

Students are offered three educational choices: a medical option, an engineering option, and a geology/ environmental science option though a majority of the students choose the medical option.
The Reseda Science Magnet scores the highest on CSTs, SATs, and ACTs in the entire school as well.

Naval Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps.

Reseda High School's NJROTC Program is ranked top JROTC unit in the San Fernando Valley. The unit has placed top 5 in state meets and qualified for the National meet in Pensacola, Florida twice in its 12 year history. They have also won the NJROTC Distinguished Unit Award 6 years running. In the following year of 09-10 The Units Air Rifle Team placed 1st in the California State Championships and competed in the NJROTC National Championships in Port Clinton, Ohio and the CMP Three Position Rifle Junior Olympics in Anniston, Alabama, where team commander Sasha Barnett earned a Bronze and Silver medal.

The 1993 shooting

On February 22, 1993 two students identified as members of rival gangs were involved in a shooting in the science building during a midmorning snack break. One student was killed instantly. The shooter was part of the violent gang D.Fis #72.

Reseda High History

The First complete High School to be built after WW2 - , Reseda opened with complete Academic and Science buildings, track & field, Industrial shops, including an automotive repair facillity. Reseda was the first High School to have a Three-color system = Columbia Blue, Navy Blue and White.
