, took home John Carmack's 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS cabriolet as the offered prize.
The tournament was created by Michael "Hawthorne" Shearon as the Kings of Capture Quake Tournament. Intergraph
became the main sponsor of the tournament and brought in id Software
to help give the event a boost. The event was changed given a new name and a bigger venue.
At this time Hawthorne brought the Tournament to Will Bryant and Clan Ring to help administer the event whilst also adding Mpath Interactive and Cox Broadcasting to the sponsors list.
The tournament was held on Mpaths networks with over 2000 participants with the top 16 being flown to Atlanta Georgia for the final tournament to be held at the World Congress Center during E3.
