based products that focus on providing direct-eye communication of live performance statistics. Currently Recon has integrated its technology with Ski/Snowboard goggles. The information portrayed inside is displayed to the user on a Micro LCD located in the bottom right corner of the goggle. The technology fits into any product that is designed to be 'Recon Ready'.

History and Origin

Recon founded in 2006 in Vancouver, British Columbia. It began as an integrated MBA project based out of University of British Columbia

located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Recon entered the market in 2010 through a partnership with Zeal Optics and their first model called Transcend. In 2011 the company will release MOD and MOD Live, designed to snap-fit into eye wear. The technology will display the participant's real-time speed, temperature, altitude, time, vertical jump, air-time and distance traveled on a Micro LCD .

, 3-axis compass, temperature sensor and a barometric pressure sensors to deliver data directly to the user.

MOD features include a display window that showcases Speed, Temperature, Altitude, Vertical decent, Chronograph, Airtime, Distance jumped, Time, and Location.

MOD Live has all of the features of MOD, while providing extra blue tooth capabilities that connect directly to smart-phones. Through this technology the user is able to view their music play-lists, Buddy Tracking, Caller ID, text messaging and have wireless compatibility with video cameras.

The technology charges through a Micro-USB port and once fully charged the battery lasts 6-8 hours. The Micro-USB also allows users to download their runs onto the online community 'HQ'.

HQ ONLINE

Coinciding with their technology, Recon Instruments also allows anyone to become part of their online community 'HQ'. Short for Head-Quarters, the free software allows users to download their daily runs onto the HQ platform. The runs are then overlayed on Google Maps

  • Harshest Environment - Harshest Environment represents the highlight with the highest altitude at the lowest average temperature, and accumulating the most vertical distance at the steepest pitch of the mountain
  • Longest Ride - Longest Ride represents the highlight with the most distance achieved for the longest period of time at the most consistent average speed
  • Hardest Day - Hardest Day represents the highlight with the most distance achieved with the majority being vertical distance, and the biggest fluctuation in temperature throughout
  • Speed line - Speed Line represents the highlight with the highest speed as well as the highest average speed achieved for the longest period of time
  • Vertical line - Vertical Line represents the highlight with the most vertical distance achieved at the steepest pitch for the longest period of time.
