Government schools in Delhi have been criticised for poor performance but are improving: The CBSE (Class 12) pass rate for government schools has risen from 76.5% in 2005 to 87% in 2009, and the RPVV are outperforming other schools.

Admissions

The admission to RPVVs is given only in classes VI,IX and XI. Paschim vihar given only in classes VI and XI.

Eligibility

Students seeking admission in any of these classes should have had at least two years of continuous studying in any Delhi government/government-aided/NDMC/MCD/Delhi Cantonment Board School preceding the class to which admission is sought with at least 60% marks in aggregate in class V/VIII are eligible for registration. Minimum cut-off for class XI is decided by the respective schools.

Admission test

The admission test is a test for reasoning, mathematical aptitude, awareness and language skills. For students seeking admission in class XI, there is no admission test; the admission is given on the basis of class X board results.

PAHAL Kendra

All the RPVVs have PAHAL Kendras to prepare the students for the entrance examination for professional courses such as engineering, medicine, hotel management, IT, and business management courses.
