In the years 1934-1954 there was a rural village Puszczykowo. In the years 1975-1998 the town administratively belonged to the regional capital Poznań.

History

For the first time Puszczykowo name appears in written sources in the form of Posczucowo in 1387 year. Top of residential buildings, so characteristic of present-day town of forming a town, dates from the close of the 19th century.
At the railway line, which existed here since 1856 (leading to Wroclaw)were built the station buildings. In the Interwar period

 the excursion traffic on Sundays and holidays was so great, that the trains from Poznań ran for every 10 minutes. To avoid interference with the long-distance traffic an additional track had to be built for them . Great popularity among the Poznań enjoyed the steamboat

 trip to Puszczykowo. In the 1950s the steamboat, "Janek Krasicki", in later years, motorboat "Dziwożona" cruised from Poznań to Puszczykowo. The chief of the city Puszczykowo during 1968-1984 was Mr. Wladyslaw Krzyżański. In those years, many public buildings were built. In the 1970s century, on Warta fields a hospital for the train health professionals was built. Since 1998, a tourist route, which is called the Kórnik Route runs in Puszczykowo.
