Pualas is a 5th class municipality in the province of Lanao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2000 census.

DAPAO A PUALAS

Before the Ranao’s system ‘Taritib” was created, there were already a people living around the vicinity of the Dapao lake, these show how old Dapao and the people living around. Lake Dapao is deepest and second largest lake in the province old as Lanao Lake; Dapao was one of the oldest existing settlements in Ranao. Pualas sultanate was created and Dapao became its capital, the “Torogan” royal house of the first Sultan of Pualas was in Dapao, these show how important Dapao to the life of Pualas people.

Accordingly, Dapao had five 5 sub territory “Lima ka Agama, Inged” with a ruler Datu, traditionally, under the umbrella of Picong Sultanate but geographically and politically belong to Pualas, Namely; 1) Apo 2) Imbang 3) Tanaon 4) Iyaran 5) Kormatan. History narrated that Porg is a place where Princess Umpas toke her make-up eyeliner, porg in Mranao, some said, her first lofty tower “lamin” was in Porg when she run away from Maguindanao, “Piorgan, Piamorgan, ron miamorg so Umpas”

Pualas was one of the oldest existing towns in phangampong a Unayan during the ancient time with integral territory where therein the sovereign power and authority was exercised in it by the legitimate ruler, and one of the early created municipality of Lanao, it name was derived from the Darangen saying “pualasan ko lalag a olodan ko ongangen” but some said it was named Pualas by ancestor Datu Nago of Picong. some said it was derived from the M’ranao root word Pualas(adverb) Pualasan(Adjective) and Mamoalas(noun) which means “to circle with” a place surrounded by hills refers to lake Dapao, we don’t know whether such a version is sufficient.

SULTANATE

The sultanate of Pualas belongs to the 28 legislative council bodies to the so called “taritib” and “ijma” that are distributed by phangampong (Dowapolo ago walo a mbabaya ko taritib sa Ranao) and exclusively to assume alternately. According to the “taritib” royal order of Pualas handed down through well-remembered oral traditions, only male descendants of the lines of SARIP and MAROHOM, could ascend to the titles and thrones of Sultan sa Pualas under a rule of alternate succession (idal). Amai Baraakal was the first enthroned Sultan of Pualas from the line of Sarip.

Dianaton Naim of Pualas was married to Bae Sapadan daughter of Maruhom Datu a Wata son of Balindong Bzar of Masiu from Pindawa-dawa oray. Dianaton and Sapadan bore Sarip, Marohom, Salamatullah and the Pata Baes (four princesses of Pualas) Namely; Bae sa Kalawi, Bae sa Taraka, Bae sa Danogan and Bae sa Pinalangka. The descendants , however of Salamatullah could assume exclusively the title "grar" as Sultan Adel, Radiamakataman and Sultan Sarip of Masiu/Pualas.

PUALAS ROYAL GENEALOGY

Accordingly, people of Pualas are closely relatives with the people of Picong, Malabang and Ganassi belong to same family tree result of frequent intermarriages between these places, reason why the GAMAPO group was created. Lawango Bore Enggawa of Pualas, Angkorin of Ganassi, Tanoga of Dapao, and Diora of Pindolonan, this made Ganassi, Dapao, and Pindolonan very close,

The people of Pualas believe in oral myths and histories relating to their ancestral origins. Thus the people of Pualas claimed descent from Sharif Kabunsoan a Muslim missionary, who came to Mindanao to spread the word of Allah, Kabunsoan married Angintabo bore Saripada Macaalang and Daragat, Macaalang’s later descendant was Dimasangkay Adel of Maguindanao who was married to Bae Mira, Miraganding is the longer name, Begot Omon who was married to Amborong son of Pendoma of Butig and Umpas, begot Amatonding a noni who was married to Maupaat Gayang, sister of Sultan Kudarat great ruler of Maguindanao, begot 5 children; one of whom was Datu Nagu ancestor of Picong and Pualas,

Kabunsoan had a son Sharif Aloyodan from Mazhawang, who was married to potri Nandaopan daughter of Sharif Alioden of Sulo and bore Potri Kaizadan, Pinorot and Pazaolan. Kaizadan was married to Amaloya thopaan of Masiu, begot four siblings, one of whom was Potri Daisalong or Dayansalong in modern name, she was married to Ameladin of Unayan begot five daughters, one of whom was Bae Lawango who was married to the Datu of Maguindanao, bore Enggawa of Pualas, Angkorin of Ganassi, Diora of Pindolonan and Tanoga of Dapao.

Enggawa married to Binou grand daughter of Kadmaan who was a son of Sharief Kabunsoan, begot Ayoka and Amin. Ayoka first married to Bolawan daughter of Payongan who was a daughter of Nagu sa Picong, Begot Dianaton Naim. Ayoka had son Saripda sa Pualas from a Tugaya royal Bae,

Ayoka and Bolawan bore Dianaton Naim of Pualas married to Sapadan daughter of Maruhom Datu a Wata son of Balindong bzar of Masiu from Pindawa-dawa oray, who was also a daughter of Amatonding a Noni from maupaat Gayang sister of the great ruler of Maguindanao, Sultan Dipatuan Kudarat. Dianaton and Sapadan bore Sarip, Maruhom, Salamatullah and the Pata Bae (four princesses of Pualas) Namely; Bae sa Kalawi, Bae sa Taraka, Bae sa Danogan and Bae sa Pinalangka. Sarip was married to Sanalongan daughter of Alon sa Tanoga of Dapao, begot Datu sa Tangkal, Datu sa Badak, Datu sa Kotawato and Sidic. See how royal and nobles the people of Pualas
