Copyright in Canada lasts until 50 years after the end of the year of the author's death. If the book was published during the author's lifetime, and the author died 51 years ago or more, the book is in the Canadian public domain. In some cases, Project Gutenberg of Canada has received permission to redistribute books which are still under copyright.
