region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 130 km northeast of Trento
and about 80 km northeast of Bolzano, on the border with Austria
.
As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 597 and an area of 86.7 km². It is the northernmost comune of Italy. According to the 2001 census, 98.70% of the population speak German and 1.30% Italian as first language.
