ppi Media provides end-to-end automated workflow for the production end of the newspaper
business. Their field of application ranges from prepress

The software vendor was founded in 1984 by Peter Pape, who had the vision of integrating the production "islands" of printing and publishing via a core planning system. ppi Media started out as the first company to fully automate newspaper planning and production, amongst others with its product PlanPag, AdPag, ProPag and printnet OM. At the heart of many newspaper
production workflows, PlanPag integrates not only ppi products, but also all standard third-party solutions, e.g. editorial systems from Digital Collections, redweb or CCI Europe

ppi Media’s portfolio for publishing houses covers well over 100 products. Since 2006 its portfolio has been complemented by software solutions for digital newspaper products to meet the requirements of newsdesks and addesks as well as application services and Software as a Service
models. These products cover over 80 % of the average daily circulation in Germany.
In 2001, ppi opened a branch office in the USA to serve customers throughout the North American continent. Worldwide, ppi Media has several hundred customers and can access the services of a network of solution partners such as Adobe

In 2002, manroland acquired a controlling interest in ppi Media. Joint developments are the award-winning APL (German Printing Industry Innovation Award 2010) and its accompanying output management system printnet OM.
