Advantages

  • Due to its advanced nature, this move commonly impresses onlookers.
  • This stop is an effective way of coming to stop within a short distance.

Disadvantages

  • It tends to leave flat spots on the wheels and sometimes even on the frame of the skate.
  • It is relatively ineffective on rougher surfaces.

This type of powerslide starts with the skater skating forward and rotating 90 degrees to a stop.

Backward powerslide

This type of powerslide starts with the skater skating backward and rotating 90 degrees to a stop.

Roundhouse powerslide

This type of powerslide starts with the skater skating forward and rotating 270 degrees to a stop. The skater effectively does a transition from moving forward to backwards and then stopping.
