 after 13 seasons. This was caused by the fold of the LCB, after many years of financial problems, which was a professional league. The league is now semi-professional.
SL Benfica has been the dominant force since 2008, winning 58 of the 60 regular season games played by the team since the beginning of the 2008/2009 season and becoming champions twice.
