Pokeshaw is an unincorporated village in Gloucester County

. It houses a formally provincial and now communal park that includes a beach, and a large rock island, Pokeshaw Island, also known as Bird Island, because of the many birds frequently seen on the top of this large rock.
There are two main industries in Pokeshaw: farming and maple products. There are a total of two farms in the area: Whelton's beef farm, near the Pokeshaw/Grand Anse
border, and Riordon Farms, owned and operated by the Riordon brothers, which is a dairy farm
that milks about 85 Ayrshire cattle
. There is one maple sugar camp, located in the southwestern part of the community, called Riordon Maple Products Inc. It is owned and operated by George Riordon.
