on the southern side of the island of Kauai
in the U.S. state of Hawaii
. The population was 1,075 at the 2000 census. The town features a group of high-end hotels, resorts and one main shopping center.

living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 24.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.65.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 16.3% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 37.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $51,442, and the median income for a family was $62,396. Males had a median income of $40,694 versus $30,625 for females. The per capita income
