According to a legend, it was founded by a middle age noble Pipo, who also had four brothers: Vasilije (Vaso), Lazar (Ozro), Kraso, and Mrkota (Oto). Pipo's brothers were forefathers of the Orthodox Serb clans of Vasojevići
