However in mid 2010, Al Yousuf LLC closed on a deal with AES Corporation that let Phoenix Motorcars become a wholly owned subsidiary of Al Yousuf LLC. This led to another restructuring of Phoenix Motorcars in less than 2 years, however Bryon Bliss (head of Phoenix Motorcars’ V.P. Sales & Marketing) said this move would benefit both companies, and that Phoenix Motorcars is headed towards releasing the SUT as secluded, to fleet costumers in late 2011.

Phoenix Motorcars has taken orders for its SUTs for delivery to corporate and government fleet customers.

Development on the SUV has been halted as of 2010, to focus on the development and release of the SUT.

On December 9, 2008 Phoenix Motorcars executed a memorandum for Phoenix's participation in the private/public Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, one week following Project Better Place's own announcement related to the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative, and announced a plan to introduce all-electric vehicles and an electric vehicle infrastructure to the island of Maui
