Philippe Juvin is a French politician and Member of the European Parliament
elected in the 2009 European election
for the Île-de-France
constituency.
Juvin was president of the Union of Youths for Progress, a left-wing Gaullist youth movement, between 1989 and 1995. As a member of the Rally for the Republic
, he joined the Union for a Popular Movement
(UMP) in 2002. He has since held executive position within the UMP's Hauts-de-Seine
section.
He is currently Mayor of La Garenne-Colombes
, where he was first municipal councillor between 1983 and 2001 before being elected mayor that same year and easily re-elected in 2008.
In the 2009 European elections, he was the fifth candidate on the Union for a Popular Movement list in the Île-de-France region, and was elected to the European Parliament

From June 2009 to January 2010, date his resignation of the General Council of the Hauts-de-Seine, Philippe Juvin kept his councillor's mandate looking till the definitive validation of the European elections of June, 2009. Philippe Juvin accumulated during this period the functions of mayor , Member of the European Parliament, councillor and department head of a hospital.
After Michel Barnier's nomination at the internal markets and services commission, he solicits at once the UMP groug of PPE presidency . He will be defeated with a very wide majority on February 9, 2010, his colleagues electing Jean-Pierre Audy Conseiller général in Correze less enfeoffed to the French President.
October 16th , 2009, Philippe Juvin Mayor of La Garenne-Colombes was unsuited by the County court of Paris of its attempt to forbid for illicit disorder a funny blog. He asked for the identity of the bloggers responsible for this site. The Court of Paris also condemned The town of La Garenne-Colombes to pay 1.500 euro in the host Courrier International

According to the project called Big Paris, a quarter of the territory of the city of La Garenne Colombes(the district of Champs-Philippe, which is an area located at the West of the town, would become controlled by EPAD (Public institution for the development of La Defense); this decision would be effective in case of non-opposition of the City Council. Having obtained from the management of the EPAD, verbal insurances, for the sovereignty of the city of La Garenne over the projects of the Champs Philippe district, the City Council expressed a favorable opinion to the project of integration of this district in EPAD
Philippe Juvin will be a member of this public institution management.Besides, in October, 2009, he took a stand in favour of the election of Jean Sarkozy as EPAD main manager and justifies his choice by the quotation: " In politics, the only legitimacy, is to be elected "

He had chosen to give to the school of his city La Garenne colombes the name of a writer connected with the far right wing (anti-Semite and xenophobe). Under the pressure of his political friends, he gave up finally this name.
