Percy Cherrett

Percy Albert Mark Cherrett (born 12 September 1899–1984) was an English footballer who played as a centre forward.
He began his career in non-league football with Boscombe
before moving to Portsmouth
in 1921, where he scored 36 goals in a two year spell at Fratton Park
. He was transferred to Plymouth Argyle
in 1923, where he continued to score regularly. In his first season at Home Park
, he scored 27 league goals in 40 matches. The arrival of Jack Cock
in 1925 saw Cherrett lose his place in the team, and he was soon sold to Crystal Palace
, having scored 36 goals in 62 appearances for Argyle. He finished as Palace's top goalscorer in both seasons that he played for the club, and scored two hat-tricks. He also played for Bristol City
before returning to play for Bournemouth & Boscombe
. He finished his career in non-league football, playing for Cowes
on the Isle of Wight
. He died in Bournemouth in 1984.
