Taxonomy

Peraceras was named by Cope (1880). Its type is Peraceras superciliosum. It was assigned to Rhinocerotidae by Cope (1880) and Carroll (1988); and to Aceratheriinae

Morphology

Four specimens were examined by M. Mendoza, C. M. Janis, and P. Palmqvist as well as M. Fortelius and J. Kappelman for estimated body mass with the results as follows:
  • Specimen 1: 98.7 kg (217.6 lb)
  • Specimen 2: 315.7 kg (696 lb)
  • Specimen 3: 408.6 kg (900.8 lb)
  • Specimen 4: 121.7 kg (268.3 lb)
