The Peace Party is an India

in the state of Uttar Pradesh
. It represents people who are striving for betterment of downtrodden people of India through political awareness and participation in governance. The party was founded in February 2008 and launched by Mohammad Ayub, a surgeon, to unite Dalits, Muslims and the backward/oppressed classes, which have been mostly used by other political parties of India as tool to gain power. Initially it had an impact in pockets of eastern Uttar Pradesh till 2009. Now it is spreading its wings to other parts of India.
As a political strategy, Peace Party is bringing other like minded parties and groups like Indian Justice Party, Lok Janshakti Party, Bhartiya Samaj Party, Janvadi Party and National Lok Hit Party etc onto one forum keeping elections to be held in year 2012 in view. Peace Party has announced that party would contest 350 of 403 Assembly seats in 2012. It is interesting that when the made its electoral debut in the 2009 General Elections, it came sixth among 124 national and regional parties going by the percentage of votes. It had contested 21 of the 80 seats from Uttar Pradesh.
The Peace Party of India, which largely banked on votes from the Muslims in Uttar Pradesh, made its strong presence felt last year when they had secured more votes than Samajwadi Party and Congress in the Uttar Pradesh By-elections at Dumariyaganj and Lakhimpur. The party organised Muslims and most backward communities and has gained the power of over 70 per cent Muslim vote.
