, The school opened in 1911 after the renovations of a former elementary school and was rededicated after Highland Park doctor Benjamin Peabody. After 100 years in operation the school closed and graduated its final class in 2011. While the Peabody name will no longer be used, the Peabody building will reopen for the 2012-2013 school as the new home of Pittsburgh Public Schools IB program.
