. The school is part of Spartanburg County School District Six. It consists of a main campus for 10th-12th graders and a separate campus for 9th graders. The campus is located at the intersection of Interstate 26 and Highway 221 in Spartanburg County. It is the state's 2nd largest high school.

team. Since winning its first national title in 1989 under the leadership of the now-retired English teacher James W. "Jim" Garrick, the Dorman High School Academic Team has won five national championships, four of which have been won under the tutelage of current coach and A.P. United States History teacher Eric Huff. The cheerleading team won the State Championship in 2007 and came in first runner-up in 2008, both under Coach Kami Miranda. The tennis team won their first state championship in 2011, under Coach Sam Napier.
Dorman has a heated rivalry with nearby Byrnes High School.
In 2009, Dorman beat Byrnes High School 28-17 for the South Carolina State Championship. The teams met again during the next season on October 29, 2010 in a nationally televised rematch on ESPNU.
