In October 2007, Keels was inducted into the Radio Television Broadcaster's Hall of Fame of Ohio, and twice has been named Ohio Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association of America, co winner in 2007, and solo winner in 2010.
