Patrick S. "Pat" Herrity is a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors

. He graduated from West Springfield High School
in 1978 and from Virginia Tech, with a Bachelors degree in accounting, four years later in 1982.
Herrity sat on the Board of Directors of the Northern Virginia Technology Council in the 1990s, and founded the Transportation and Telework Committee. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Professional Services Council.
On the Board of Supervisors, Herrity is the Chair of the Aging Committee and Vice-Chair of the Economic Advisory Committee. Herrity also represents the County on the Northern Virginia Transportation Committee, Virginia Railway Express
Operations Board, and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission.

. Herrity announced on November 13 his candidacy for the special election,held on February 3rd, 2009, for the vacant Chairman's seat. Herrity's opponent was Braddock Supervisor Sharon Bulova
. Herrity pledged to make the County's $650 million budget shortfall for the upcoming fiscal year the primary issue of the campaign. Herrity was defetead by Bulova in the general election.
In January of 2010, Herrity announced his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives
from the 11th district
, with the hope of unseating Democratic incumbent Connolly. He was defeated by Connolly's 2008 challenger, Keith Fimian

Political career
Herrity first ran for office after Springfield Supervisor Elaine McConnell announced she was not running for re-election. Herrity defeated Stan Reed in the Republican Primary and Mike McClanahan in the general election.
