Party Dark are a London

group formed in 2008, consisting of former Big Brovaz
members J-Rock and Randy, as well as S Club 7
's Bradley McIntosh
.
, while J-Rock and Randy formed Party Dark, putting their lyrics
to an electro-house based sound. The duo then began to write and record a number of tracks at various friend's home studios (such as that of Bradley McIntosh), and built up a following, allowing them to perform many shows in and around London over the course of the next years.
In late 2009, Party Dark signed to Champion Records, after their demo
was submitted to their A&R
department. The demo track originally entiled "Who?" was then renamed as "Is That You?", when the record label
decided to issue it as the group's debut single
. It was released on 8 March 2010, which was well received by Huw Stephens
, Bobby Friction
and Eddy Temple-Morris, and the music video
reached #1 in the MTV
Dancefloor Chart for four weeks in a row.
Their second offering was set to be released on 18 October 2010, and featured remix
es from Twocker, Sunship and Marlow.
During the summer months of 2010, Yolanda Be Cool
's "We No Speak Americano
" saw chart success and inspired the group to produce their own bootleg of it, reminiscent of the early days of hip hop when MC's would put their own spin on popular tracks and make them their own, entitling it "(We No Speak) Papa Americano". The track was championed by Kiss 100
DJ Steve Smart.
Party Dark returned to the recording studio
and enlisted Choice FM's
DJ Hotsteppa to provide them with a seventy minute mix over which they could MC. The mixtape was then distributed via the group's official website, and also pressed as a limited run of 1,000 CDs
. It was during this time that McIntosh became a fully-fledged member of the group, having featured on both the track and the video for "Let's Go".
