Panzerfaust (album)
Encyclopedia
Panzerfaust is the fifth album by Norwegian
black metal
band, Darkthrone
. It was released in 1995 and was their first album with record label Moonfog Productions. It was released in North American under The End Records
. It is also their second and final album to feature some lyrics by the infamous black metal musician Varg Vikernes
.
Much of the album is similar in style to early Celtic Frost
; particularly the songs "Triumphant Gleam", "The Hordes of Nebulah" and "Beholding the Throne of Might". However, the sound production, continuing in a similar "raw" vein to that of Transilvanian Hunger
, has encountered some criticisms. The vocals are mixed loudly so that the instruments seem to get quieter during vocal parts, as if they were sidechained.
In October 2010, the album was re-issued by Peaceville Records as a two-disc version with the second disc featuring Fenriz talking about how he made the album and what the songs are about.
