History

Palapag was the hometown of Agustin Sumoroy, a Waray who led a rebellion against the Spaniards from 1649-1650. The main reason for the SumOroy Rebellion was the forcible conscription of workers from Ibabao region,(partly Northern Samar and Eastern Samar)Eastern Visayas to work in the shipyards of Cavite
