. It is owned by BE limited and is designed to give students the experiences, curriculum and the traditions of the top British Schools and Colleges. Oxford International College (OIC) focusses on putting its students through the rigors of British A-levels and IGCSE's. The OIC aims at working on students' critical thinking and creativity skills.

The college is situated in its own campus grounds and offers a safe environment for students to participate in a variety of educational and leisure activities.

The head teacher is Roger Sinnet, who received his master certificate from Cambridge University in the UK. Deputy head teacher Charlie Peng has a strong background in teaching in Chengdu and has seen over 100 students into top Universities throughout the world. Deputy head Peter Malone is an examinations officer of the IGCSE's and A levels and has lead A level courses pioneering the the practical applications of Mathematics.

Campus

The campus at OIC is designed to look and create the feel of a small University. Students live on campus in flats of four people sharing. Each apartment contains bathroom, beds, wardrobe and desks for each student. Meals are served in the canteen which creates both Asian and Western based dishes prepared by the chefs. Students also have access to sports facilities including a football pitch, sports field, and basketball courts. Students may participate in organized team sports or leisure activities they coordinate themselves. The campus is relatively new and has modern security, fire, and safety systems including around the clock security patrols. Students are not required to live on the campus and have the option to live at home.

Curriculum

Oxford International College (OIC) offers it's students the British level ICGSE and A Level curricula recognized by Universities in over 160 countries across the world. The A level curriculum is designed to make students more concentrated and specialised in a particular area.

OIC focusses its studies on the four main areas of Maths, English, Humanities and the Sciences, in order to create a "whole student". OIC requires participation in additional areas such as art, music, Drama, business studies, and sports. OIC also offers Chinese language and culture courses. The A level curriculum is recognized by international Universitys and is graded by international unbiased graders. OIC students are often able to graduate from international Master's programmes up to two years earlier than those in the Chinese system.

Extra Curricular

OIC students participate in a broad array of activities, such as drama, athletics, art, public speaking, music and more. Some of these are offered as courses, but sometimes they are available through student and teacher organized clubs. Students can propose new extra-curricular activities that they or their classmates can be involved with.

All students are expected to enrole in physical education programmes in order to promote a healthy lifestyle. The aim of this is to promote team working skills, leadership and problem solving skills. OIC offers a host of creative arts programs, including singing, dancing, painting, graphic design and theatrical performance. the OIC also promotes entrepreneurial activities, involvment with the school governance committees.

OIC students have the opportunity to learn from very professional and highly qualified tutors and faculty staff. Hailing from countries around the globe, the OIC faculty brings a diverse range of cultures and traditions to the classroom, engaging students with a global education.

Admissions

Oxford International College of Chengdu has a thorough admissions process. Students must display strong academic abilities and show drive to achieve. The process consists of an entrance exam, personal statement and a personal interview. However the OIC gives credit to applicants who have strong recommendations from previous schools or existing OIC families. Places at the school are limited and there can be high competition for places.

University Admissions

OIC offers advisory and counseling services to it's students in order to help them correctly target and apply to Universities. Preparation for University entrance examinations such as the SAT or ACT are also available. OIC's affiliation to BE Education means students have links to experienced teams of study abroad specialists. Students can have access to services such as planning University visits, obtaining visas and arranging travel.

Programmes

Oxford International College also offers programmes designed outside of the curricula of IGCSE and A level. These are Tutorial Programmes or Summer Programmes.

Tutorial Programmes are tailor-made courses for students who wish to study part-time on the evenings and weekends. All students are tested and given reports twice a month, this measures development, and further areas for improvement are quickly identified.

Summer Programmes through OIC's sister organisation, BE Education, OIC is able to offer a host of educational summer programmes. OIC's summer programs offer students the opportunity to get an insight into education abroad as well as experience new cultures and traditions. Courses include; Harvard/MIT American Culture and Leadership (USA), Charterhouse Business Leadership (UK), Charterhouse Young Learners (UK) and Eton College Summer Course (UK).
