Konteh learned to play soccer in the Sharonville Youth Soccer League. His career began to grow as a young boy playing for Adidas Premier and winning many league championships. He ended his career playing with Club Ohio/Dynamo, where Oliver flourished under coaches, Mike Barry and Mike Thomas, Konteh was also coached by Seymour Allen and Maziya Chete. Konteh played high school soccer at Westerville South High School. He then played college soccer

After the season Konteh returned to FC Nantes,where his rights were then picked up by St. Etienne but a month later was waived and he returned to the U.S. where he finished the 2004 season with the Toledo Slayers
