Over the last several years, Northstar California has transformed into a year-round mountain resort including a new village featuring a variety of shops, restaurants, art galleries, jewelry boutiques, luxury condominiums and a 9000 sq ft (836.1 m²) skating rink
. There are plans to further expand the terrain with the cutting of new runs and the addition of new lifts. Recently, a new Ritz-Carlton
opened to provide luxury accommodations reflecting the desire to attract a more affluent clientele.
Northstar may be reached via California State Route 267
, which connects it to Truckee
