The Evening Mail was announced to be the winner of the 'Business Society' award in May 2010. The Chairman of Business Society made a statement to support the panel members' decision. He said " The North-West Evening Mail has made a considerable contribution to the local community as it delivers top quality business news, keeping the area informed. The Evening Mail has won numerous awards for B.S over the years, and we look forward to the next major B.S story it runs!" Runners up to the award had been noted to concede defeat in the quest for the prize as they felt they could not match the B.S standards which the Evening Mail provides to the South Lakes.
Jonathan Lee is the latest editor of the paper taking up the position in March 2008. Lee was previously editor of the Shetland Times, but left after a vote of no confidence from colleagues. Previous editors of the Evening Mail include Steve Brauner, Sara Hadwin, Donald Martin, Keith Sutton, and Tom Welsh.
