. The station is on the Amsterdam - Schiphol - Leiden Centraal - Den Haag - Rotterdam main line. This is actually the second station in Nieuw Vennep; there was an earlier one for the Haarlemmermeerspoorlijn (Aalsmeer - Haarlem and Hoofddorp - Leiden This station opened in 1912 and closed in 1936.

The current station opened in 1981. The current station is a stoptrain station and opened on 31 May 1981, it is operateed by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen
