Nathan Chen is an American figure skater

. He is a two-time (2010, 2011) U.S. novice men's champion. By winning the novice gold medal at age 10 in 2010, Chen became the youngest national novice champion in the United States. His 2011 total winning score of 163.40 makes him the highest scoring U.S. national novice champion under the ISU Judging System

Career

Chen won consecutive national novice titles at the 2010 and 2011 U.S. Championships.

For the 2011–12 season, Chen will move up to the junior level in national competitions but is not old enough to do so internationally. He is coached by Genia Chernyshova and also travels to Lake Arrowhead, California

Chen has qualified from the Pacific Coast Sectional Championships in November 2011 to compete in the 2012 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships, to be held from January 22 - 29, 2012 in San Jose, CA.

Personal life

Nathan Chen is the youngest of five siblings in his family. He began figure skating at three years old. In addition to figure skating, he has been training and performing in ballet with Ballet West
