After the November 2006 general election, she stated: At the time, she said that she planned on Texas having a $5 to $10 billion surplus for the next year. After the 2008 election, Crownover reiterated her support for the right to higher education. In 2009, Crownover supported the increased athletics fee by authoring HB2024, which authorized the higher student fees at UNT to pay for Apogee Stadium. This was similar to when she created a bill to increase the athletics fee at Texas Women's University up to $125 per semester. In 2011, she strongly advocated for HB 1, which cut funding for higher education in Texas by $1 billion.
