Muvico's theaters are known for the themes that several theaters have, such as the Egyptian theme, the 1950s drive-in theme, the French opera house theme, Mediterranean palace theme and the 1920s grand movie palace theme. They are also known for the Premier Bar, which is currently at Centro Ybor 20, and Parisian 20 locations. The Rosemont and Thousand Oaks theaters goes even further with full-scale restaurants on the upper level of their theaters.

. Between 1985 to 1995, Muvico bought or built eight theaters totaling 59 screens; the California Club Six in North Miami was among these eight theaters. However, in 1995, Muvico sold all of its theaters and three leases, except for the Palm Harbor 10 located in Palm Harbor, Florida

, totaling 104 screens. In 2001, Muvico opened the Peabody Place 22 in Memphis, Tennessee with a train station theme. Muvico sold Pointe Orlando 21 to Regal Cinemas and opened new theaters in Coconut Pointe, FL and in Boynton Beach, FL. In 2007, the Baywalk 20 theater in St. Petersburg opened an IMAX theater specifically for the launch of Spider-Man 3, with an IMAX theater also added to the Parisian 20 location in West Palm Beach, FL.

Muvico opened an 18-screen theater in Rosemont, IL on September 14, 2007 which features Bogart's Bar and Grill and the Premier Theaters on the upper level and was the first theater in the country to have Sony's SXRD 4K digital projectors in all auditoriums. Sony made a deal with Muvico to deploy more 4K SXRD projectors in all new and many existing locations. These Sony 4K digital projectors are currently installed on every screen at the Thousand Oaks 14 location in Thousand Oaks, CA, the Rosemont 18 location in Rosemont, IL, the Parisian 20 location in West Palm Beach, FL, the Broward 18 location in Pompano Beach, FL the Hialeah 12 location in Hialeah, FL and the Starlight 20 location in Tampa, FL.

Muvico sold its Maryland Egyptian 24 location and three of its Florida locations, The Palace 20 in Boca Raton
