which is a large region of mostly Paleozoic-Mesozoic metamorphosed and deformed sedimentary, volcanic, and intrusive rocks that are intruded by younger Cretaceous and Tertiary granitic rocks. Xenoliths contained in the volcano's ejecta provide a sample of lower crust material.
