History of the Location

Mount Airy Casino Resort is located on the site of the former Mount Airy Lodge, which has since been demolished and replaced with the new casino resort.

The original lodge was constructed in 1898 as an eight-room inn and was re-constructed in the 1950s as the Poconos' largest resort. In the Lodge's heyday in the 1960s and 1970s, Mount Airy had more than 890 rooms, indoor/outdoor pools

The old resort was completely demolished with a completely new $412 million, 188 room hotel erected from the ground up in the same location as the old lodge. The new casino resort officially opened in November 2007.

For more than half a century Mount Airy Lodge was known as America's premier honeymoon hideaway, with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, velvet-swagged canopy beds, and heart-shaped bathtubs. The artificial lake in front of the building (currently unused) served as a beach and boating venue. It was also known for its top entertainment.
